Summary
Porn-power
- Porn power is the wrong word to use here, but the site fulfills its purpose perfectly.
- Extreme resolutions are standard for both pics and movies.
- A huge archive, and extreme quality provides for perfect value for money,
- Doesn't seem consistent, but as far as I can tell 3-6 updates are posted daily!
- As far as I can tell nothing promised and not kept.
- This is a huge site, and it looks very hand-made, which sometimes results in a quite messy navigation. Also the search for example doesn't have thumbnails which is a major annoyance.
- Some galleries' "next page" links point to the first page when you're on the last. I also got an "abuse" page once and had log back in, possibly because I use google's web accelerator, and my IP may have changed or something.
My opinion
MET-art may not belong here, it isn't porn! -I wouldn't even call it softcore porn. It is a huge (humongous) collection of extremely high technical quality erotic art. -Stuff that at one time is dirty enough to give you a hard-on, and clean enough that you can leave it on the TV when you mom visits.
The models are pretty, and most are young, and they do pose completely nude. Some updates even have some amount of closeups. So don't get me wrong, you can easily get a boner from this stuff, I know I did... -But that just isn't what the site is about. It is about art, and there are no pictures lacking an artistic angle.
The models come in all flavors, american, scandinavian, asian, russian, blondes, brunettes, redheads, and I could keep going. There are a total of almost 300,000 pictures, and around 330 movies according to the tour, and I easily believe that. Updates are presented as magazine covers, which IMO gives a nice "feel" to them, besides the fact that it shows that actual work is put into this site.
Most videos are 5-10 minutes long, and display the model dancing, usually with some chill-out electronic music, and they are cut to make the dancing fit the music... More or less.
The style of the pictures varies from photographer to photographer. The red thread is classiness and tastefulness, but many different styles are represented. MET-art features the works of more than 70 professional photographers around the world, including names such as: Galitsin, Voronin, Anais Demois, Natasha Schon, Razin, Pasha, Goncharov and Laurie Jeffery.
Some of the sets are hazy, out-of-focus, dreamy portraits of girls laying in bed, others feature out-door nakedness. -Anyone up for a snowball fight with a pretty nude russian girl? -Others again are high-end fashion photography sets, super detailed, and super styled, with a "theme" through out the set. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think every set features full frontal nudity, few feature closeups, but none feature toys, fingering or any other sleazy thing you might normally see in normal pornography.
So, long story short:: Both pictures and videos worship the female body with all it's shapes in a classy and tasteful way.
The site also offers members 6 daily live shows with chat, featuring some of the models from the site. The idea is OK, and it is an extra-ordinary thing to get real, high resolution live chat, included in the subscription fee. -And the girls are pretty. -But the artistic angle is kind of lost on a webcam :)
Finally there is lot's of text content in several different areas, and bonus features such as guest photographers, biographies and so on. Honestly I haven't checked out the entire site or read all the text. I've visited several times over the past 3 days, but the site is huge, and it is beyond the scope of my review to visit every page.
Tech-stuff
Everything is shot by professional photographers, so if anything is underlit, overexposed or out of focus it is meant to be like that... -Artistic freedom, right?
Resolution is extreme for both pictures and movies. Pictures average around 3000x2000 pixels for the high resolution versions, and 1200x800 for low-res, and they are (of course) available for download as a whole set in a ZIP file. All videos are offered in several good quality formats and several high resolutions. The formats I saw were: Quicktime, divX, WMV, MPEG, iPod and PSP, not all formats are available for all videos though the newer ones seem to offer a broader selection. Some are even available in high definition, 1280x720... That's more than my computer can handle, but I'm sure they're amazingly clear even on a big TV :)
The search feature is good, and I think one thing that deserves a comment is the fact that you can actually specify the eye-colour of the model when doing a search... You don't see that on many adult sites... Unfortunately results are returned as text-links only, IMHO it would be very appropriate to display thumbnails, or the magazine covers here...
Navigation is confusing and messy. MET-art is 8 years old, and I'm pretty sure it still has some parts left from the original site. In other words the navigation isn't consistent, and therefore it's really hard to get a good overview. The fact that not everything is thumbnailed on all pages further complicates things. I feel a new, simpler design would be appropriate. With this amount of content at your finger-tips it would be nice to have a better overview.
A few links aren't working as they should, for example on the last page of some galleries there is a "next page" link that actually take you back to page one. I found that really annoying in the beginning, because I was just skimming through the thumbs, and after 2 minutes or so I realized that I was looking at the same two pages over and over again...

Conclusion
MET-art is a super site, as long as you keep in mind that it isn't your average porn-site. If you like beautiful erotic art pictures, with beautiful women posing in them, then this is the absolute top-choice! -I think it is safe to say that this is the biggest and best site for erotic art photography found anywhere on the web.
Outstanding quality, outstanding models, outstanding artistic value and outstanding quantity makes MET-art an outstanding site!
I enjoyed this site very much, partly because it was a welcome change from the unhealthy amounts of sleazy harcore porn I watch every day, and partly because it really is a good site.
